Handmade Cards

Dan and I moved to our own place tonight. This afternoon, while I was packing our things, I found a personalized card in a pile of books and folders.

I was really surprised at how patient, and perhaps creative, I was before. When I was a student, I used to collect beautiful printed paper and save lovely wrappers for my collages and scrapbooks. The artwork I incidentally stumbled upon was one of the sweetest and nicest outputs (hey, that's according to my standards) I've given to Papa and Mama.

I'm posting the details of the card. This is part of my high schoolish drama so please bear with it. :D

Looked for different cartoon characters, scissored them and glued them in a line.

The Internet wasn't popular in the country yet.
That explains the mailbox on the upper left corner.

The three small hearts before the word love. Awww!!!

Hey, look at the three butterflies beside the date!
Made this in September 1997, when I was 16.

I can't remember why I placed  a blue car there.
I guess I just didn't want to throw it away.

Love lots was my favorite complimentary close.
A heart or a smiley often follows my name.

I'm a bit sad that everything has gone digital these years. Though e-cards and Photoshopped designs are convenient and amazing, a part of me still treasures handmade notes and letters. It's a shame I don't make stuffs like this anymore.

I have a friend who still does make cards...mostly for the holidays. It is very time consuming, though. Your card is very sweet.

The last time I really made an effort with handmade cards was last year during World Teachers Day. I seem to have lost all juices of creativity. My mind has gone arid.

Lovely cards, Kit. Nindot sad kaayo ka ug penmanship. :)

Kindred soul! Up to when I was in college, I sent handwritten letters to friends. After reading this post, I'm resolved to start doing it again. :)

PS.
Ate Kikit, this is me. I hope you recognize me. Pero sa atin na lang muna. Hehe.

I also used to make handmade cards, letters, and other paper stuffs when I was in high school. Imagine the patience we had back then. I even replaced the black tape on a cassette with a looong line of paper. :D

Let's have a scrapbooking session next time, Kit. :-)

Thank you for reminding me of the nicer days, Kit! :)
Now I have an idea that I want to do with my kids for Christmas! :)
